That moment I wake up next to you and I realize I only have seconds left here. A rush of blood sobers my sleepy mind as light leaks through the bedroom window. My hands desperately search for your delicate skin to affirm I'm not dreaming. I press my face to your sculpted back as my warm breath greets you. How can I slow down time and make this fleeting moment last? I try to hold my breath and focus on the spaces between each tick of the second hand from the clock behind me. I exhale and my breath moves across your body like the brisk morning fog on a mountain's peak. Your body responds with a slow turn and we lie face to face. With your eyes still closed, I gaze upon you, careful not to miss a single detail of your delicate form. The curve of your lips. The bend of your neck. The shape of your breasts. Every splendid detail. Your eyelids faintly part and your eyes catch a sparkle from the dim morning light. You slowly move your hand and place it upon my bare chest. My heartbeat quickens below it. I press my cheek to your cheek and take in your rousing scent. My lips inches away from yours and wild horses race through my body at the possibility of touching. I pause and live in this stolen moment like the delectable first taste of honey on a pleasing tongue. As I lie motionless and wholly enraptured by you, the world around me fades away for a few moments longer and the only measurement of time is the beat of our hearts one after another. And then unapologetically, the day makes herself known, and we must awaken and disjoin. Until next time, my cherished sun. Until next time.
